Mankato East is 7-1 against Red Wing since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will square off against the Wingers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mankato East has five straight wins, Red Wing has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Mankato East made easy work of Austin and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Cougars have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kylinn Stangl made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Another player making a difference was Kenley Staunton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Mankato East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Red Wing suffered their closest loss since April 12th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Century by a score of 3-1.
Miley Clemens made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Mankato East's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average this season. As for Red Wing, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Mankato East's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Red Wing, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mankato East continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Mankato East's way against Red Wing when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Mankato East made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
