Basketball Recap: Gainesville Has No Trouble Against Woodbridge

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Osbourn Park, Gainesville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Woodbridge Vikings as the Gainesville Cardinals made off with a 64-42 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Woodbridge lost, don't look at Maia Melendez. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. Melendez's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Porter, who earned six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Gainesville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Woodbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Gainesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-38 defeat against Bishop O'Connell on the 5th. Woodbridge has also already played their next contest (against Forest Park), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
