The Carlin Railroaders will be defending their home-field for the first timethey go up against the Mineral County Serpents at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Carlin is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Wells. Carlin took their matchup on the road last Thursday with ease, bagging a 42-12 win over Wells. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Carlin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leo Krantz, who threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns, and Dylan Ramirez, who gained 180 total yards and two touchdowns. Ramirez got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Kerby, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Carlin's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Carter Pooley was especially locked on to Wells' QB and sacked him twice. Pooley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making three total tackles.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Carlin was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 436 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wells only gained 240.
Meanwhile, while Mineral County put up plenty of points on Saturday, the same can't be said for McDermitt. Mineral County simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat McDermitt 62-0 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Serpents.
Chase Reeves was a one-man wrecking crew for Mineral County as he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 144 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes. Andrew Stinson also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Carlin took a serious blow against Mineral County in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, falling 66-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reeves, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 139 yards and three touchdowns.
