After three games on the road, Hawkinsville is heading back home. They will take on the Wheeler County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Hawkinsville had to settle for a 60-57 loss against the Vikings. Hawkinsville has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bryson Singletary, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Martin Mcdonald, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wheeler County escaped with a win on Friday against the Bobcats by the margin of a single free throw, 70-69.
Hawkinsville dropped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Wheeler County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Hawkinsville came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 55-53. Will Hawkinsville repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
