Newton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Perry, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Perry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Sanaa Tripp was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Putnam County had strong showings from Journey Waller, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals, and Kamyra Aikens, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was A?Ziyah Williams, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Newton's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Putnam County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Newton will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lovejoy at 2:30 p.m. on November 24th. As for Putnam County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hancock Central at 6:00 p.m.
