Maize is 8-2 against Maize South since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Maize Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Maize South Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Maize earned a 57-44 win over Eisenhower.
Among those leading the charge was Alec Grill, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. Grill is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charles Sharp, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Maize South had to kick off their season on the road last Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 75-60 victory over Andover Central.
Maize now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Maize South, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Maize came up short against Maize South when the teams last played back in February, falling 62-50. Can Maize avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
