New Bloomfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Sturgeon Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, New Bloomfield took a serious blow against Eugene, falling 82-44. While losing is never fun, New Bloomfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Eugene is ranked 14th).
The losing side was boosted by Jacob Fuhriman, who scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Fuhriman, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
New Bloomfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Sturgeon suffered a rough 60-37 loss at the hands of Westran on Monday. Sturgeon has not had much luck with Westran recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
New Bloomfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Sturgeon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
New Bloomfield came up short against Sturgeon in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 48-40. Can New Bloomfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
