The Alliance Aviators will be home for the holidays to greet the Washington Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alliance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Washington is ranked 195th).
On Saturday, Alliance beat East 55-42.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Washington's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 55-28 defeat at the hands of Louisville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Washington has scored all season.
Washington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of La Nia Moore, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds, and Telia Russell who scored nine points. Moore is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Washington struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Alliance's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Alliance took a serious blow against Washington when the teams last played back in December of 2016, falling 66-17. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Alliance was down 35-2.
