The Knightstown Panthers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 56-39 win over Morristown. Given Knightstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Morristown is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Knightstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden McDaniel led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Palmer Newkirk, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Morristown still got an impressive performance from Colin Kieninger, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds. Kieninger scored a full 25.6% of Morristown's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brayden Keithley was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Knightstown's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Morristown, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Knightstown will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge City Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morristown, they will head out on the road to face off against Waldron at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Waldron is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
