Venice (Los Angeles, Calif.) put up 16 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 30-7 victory over
Fairfax (Los Angeles, Calif.).
The two teams were tied at seven heading into halftime. The Gondoliers took the lead for good on a punt return touchdown by
Dajuan Parham with 9:00 left in the third quarter.
A 16-point fourth quarter helped Venice secure the big victory. VHS rushed for two touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including two by
Dewan Thompson.
Ever Hernandez played well for the Lions. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Thompson played well for the Gondoliers in the victory. The junior wide receiver ran for two touchdowns.
Fairfax's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Hernandez in the first quarter.
Venice came into the game allowing 14.0 points per game. FHS's seven points were well below its season average of 30.2 per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, VHS came away with a 45-21 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Fairfax, which notched a 45-0 victory over Westchester in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Lions' 2-game winning streak.
