The New Hartford Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Seton Catholic Central Saints at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. New Hartford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Seton Catholic Central is ranked 81st).
New Hartford had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They took down Whitesboro 48-34 on Tuesday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory New Hartford has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic Central strolled past Owego Free Academy with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-42.
Seton Catholic Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Johnny Hopf out in front who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Hopf continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Allan Eagles, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
New Hartford's record now sits at 1-4. Seton Catholic Central's record now sits at 3-1.
New Hartford was able to grind out a solid win over Seton Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in January, winning 65-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Hartford since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
