This season hasn't been kind to the Streator Bulldogs, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were beaten by Plano 44-17 on Saturday. Streator has not had much luck with Plano recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Streator's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shantell Morton, who scored 2 points along with 14 rebounds, and Alyssa Arambula who scored 0 points. Morton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.
Josie Larson was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with 3 steals for Plano. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Larson has scored at least 25% of Plano's points. Nylah Mathews was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
Streator's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Plano, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Streator will head out on the road to face off against Coal City at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Coal City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Streator in Illinois (Coal City is ranked 65th, while Streator is ranked 643rd). As for Plano, they will be playing at home against Somonauk/Leland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Somonauk/Leland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
