Baseball Recap: Monta Vista Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Monta Vista's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Summit Shasta Black Bears by a score of 7-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Matadors also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Aiden Koppes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaito Miyanouchi Porter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Joseph Murai, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Monta Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit Shasta struck out eight times.

Monta Vista has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Summit Shasta's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Monta Vista will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Saratoga at 4:00 p.m. As for Summit Shasta, they will head out to square off against Mills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
