Williamsburg Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Florence Christian Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Williamsburg Academy, who comes in off a win.
Williamsburg Academy posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Oakbrook Prep 70-68. The win was just what Williamsburg Academy needed coming off of a 63-28 loss in their prior contest.
Wes Smith was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points. Teague Ward was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Florence Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 60-39 defeat at the hands of Wilson Hall. While losing is never fun, Florence Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Wilson Hall is ranked 75th).
Williamsburg Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Florence Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12.
Williamsburg Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Florence Christian in their previous matchup on January 5th, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamsburg Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
