The Magnolia West Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 47 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Friendswood. Magnolia West was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Friendswood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, Magnolia West still got an impressive performance from Bryson Broadway, who threw for 406 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Chase Lott was another key contributor, picking up 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Friendswood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock Foster, who threw for 518 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Muecke, who picked up 243 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Magnolia West's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Friendswood, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Magnolia West will head out on the road to face off against Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 817th, while Magnolia West is ranked 252nd). Friendswood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
