The Chilhowee Indians will be playing at home against the Bronaugh Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chilhowee has five straight victories, the Wildcats have 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything went Chilhowee's way against the Panthers as the Indians made off with a 41-18 victory. Given Chilhowee's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Panthers are ranked 459th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Bronaugh had to settle for a 34-32 loss against the Tigers on Monday.
Despite the loss, Bronaugh saw an underclassman step up: Jada Brundridge scored five points along with 11 steals and six assists. Another player making a difference was Gretchen Banes, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Chilhowee is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Bronaugh, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Chilhowee against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 51-24 victory. Will Chilhowee repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
