AAA District 11 recap September 24, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Ravenwood, who defeated 28th ranked Independence, 30-14.
Brentwood's Aaron Maher recorded the longest rushing play in AAA District 11 this season in his game against Dickson County last week. Maher's team topped the Cougars as he sprinted for 81 yards on the play and finished with 127 in all.
Joe Critchlow and Colton Black gave Franklin a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Critchlow threw for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Black ran for 135 yards. Teammate Malik Grimes added to the ground attack by rushing for 75 yards.
Critchlow and Black gave the Rebels a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.
Critchlow put up the best numbers through the air as Franklin bested Shelbyville Central. Critchlow's favorite target this week was Ben Hagaman, who caught 3 passes for 57 yards.
Caleb Hollis was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles lost to the Raptors. He completed 18 passes for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 5 yards. Hollis' key target this week was Vic Wharton III, who caught 7 passes for 131 yards.
Black was the most successful running back in the league this week.
He went 9-17 with 0 interception.
Wharton III was the best wideout in the league this week as Independence fell to Ravenwood. Matthew Bunch helped Independence's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 85 yards.
Zach Orange made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Rebels bested the Golden Eagles. The 5-foot-10 defensive back.
Scott Blade's team's Hollis and Wharton III have formed a dream team this season, leading AAA District 11 in both passing and receiving yards. Hollis has thrown for 1,037 yards this season, while Wharton III, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 464 yards. Otis Gerron from Dickson County leads the league in rushing with 352 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Will Hester's team beat the Eagles 30-14,. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Raptors.
