Progreso is 4-0 against Monte Alto since November of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Progreso Red Ants will be playing at home against the Monte Alto Blue Devil at 5:30 p.m. Monte Alto took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Progreso, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Progreso gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They came out on top against IDEA Riverview by a score of 57-22 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Progreso considering their 22-point performance the contest before.
Sophia Pecina and Alexa Galvan were among the main playmakers for Progreso as the former dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 17 assists and the latter scored 28 points along with eight steals and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galvan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Cerda, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Monte Alto, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were dealt a 79-9 defeat at the hands of Rio Hondo on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monte Alto in their matchups with Rio Hondo: they've now lost four in a row.
Progreso has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Monte Alto, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Progreso against Monte Alto when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 62-16 win. Does Progreso have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monte Alto turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
