Baseball Recap: Luxemburg-Casco Takes a Loss

Luxemburg-Casco extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 13-7 in the process. They came up short against the Green Bay Preble Hornets, falling 8-2. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Luxemburg-Casco saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Delcore, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. Ethan Werner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Green Bay Preble, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Green Bay Preble's side, Andrew Lindsley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lindsley has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Green Bay Preble got a great performance from Jaden Sonnenberg as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Harrison Selk, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Colin St. Andre, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Luxemburg-Casco and Green Bay Preble should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Spartans will face off against Waupaca at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (76 vs. 201). Meanwhile, Green Bay Preble (ranked 30th) will meet Denmark (ranked 146th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
