The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks struggled with assists on Monday (the Catalina Foothills Falcons had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Ironwood Ridge falling 64-46. They have not had much luck with Catalina Foothills recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Ironwood Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Myla Elslager, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Saucedo, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Catalina Foothills got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Clara-Mae Hrouch out in front who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Hrouch has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. Kayanna Chief was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Ironwood Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Catalina Foothills, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ironwood Ridge will take on Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Catalina Foothills, they will be playing at home against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cholla is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
