After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Miami, the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They came out on top against Arete Prep by a score of 40-32. That's another feather in the cap for Gilbert Classical Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Arete Prep saw an underclassman step up: Leilani Aragon scored nine points along with three steals. Livia Emery was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Gilbert Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Arete Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Gilbert Classical Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against San Tan Charter at 5:30 p.m. San Tan Charter has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30. As for Arete Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Miami at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 66.3 so far this season, Miami's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Arete Prep better be ready for a challenge.
