Kalama is 0-7 against La Center since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Chinooks will square off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Kalama is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Kalama is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seton Catholic.
Brookelyn Waddle was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Colbie Manninen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, La Center earned a 7-3 victory over Stevenson on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Billie Ross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Lauren Baker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jessica Tomberlin, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
La Center was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Kalama suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-3. As for La Center, their record now sits at 2-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kalama hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like La Center struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kalama came up short against La Center when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 14-11. Can the Chinooks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
