The Hancock Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Smithsburg, falling 81-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hancock has scored all season.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden McCarty, who scored 11 points along with three steals. McCarty is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hill, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Hancock's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Smithsburg, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Hancock won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Turkeyfoot Valley Area has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 605 points over their last eight games. As for Smithsburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Governor Thomas Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
