The Valiant Cross Academy Warriors came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-59 win over Lee-Scott Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Valiant Cross Academy found their leader in underclassman Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Hall is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was John Cosby, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Lee-Scott Academy saw an underclassman step up: Haiden Harper scored 21 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 35.6% of Lee-Scott Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Barrett Cook was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Valiant Cross Academy's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 19-4.
Valiant Cross Academy will be playing at home against Eastwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastwood Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Lee-Scott Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southern Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Southern Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Lee-Scott Academy is ranked 62nd).
