Briarfield Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Claiborne Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Briarfield Academy put the hurt on Claiborne Academy with a sharp 12-0 win on Tuesday. Briarfield Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Davis Holt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Briarfield Academy let Jackson Thornton and Jake Thornton run wild. Jackson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while Jake scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Lovell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Briarfield Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Briarfield Academy pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Claiborne Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coincidentally, Briarfield Academy and Claiborne Academy will both be playing Riverdale Academy the next time they take the field. Briarfield Academy will head out to face Riverdale Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Claiborne Academy will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
