The Narraguagus Knights will head out on the road to take on the Calais Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Narraguagus will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
While Narraguagus' victory against Lee Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pandas 13-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Brody Robertson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Robertson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Miles Worcester and Charles Willey did most of the damage at the plate: Worcester went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Willey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Max Worcester also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Narraguagus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Calais never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Shead on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ronny Spearin was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kaeson Dana was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Calais is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Narraguagus, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Calais' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Narraguagus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Calais, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Narraguagus' hitters?
Narraguagus took their victory against Calais in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
