Soccer Recap: Greenfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wayne Country Day on Monday, Greenfield came back down to earth. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the John Paul II Catholic Saints who were credited with the win on Wednesday. The John Paul II Catholic Saints got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to the Greenfield Knights' one. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Greenfield came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while John Paul II Catholic are ranked 247th).

Greenfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for John Paul II Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

Greenfield and John Paul II Catholic will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Knights see the pitch they'll take on Fayetteville Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for John Paul II Catholic, their break will end when they face Arendell Parrott Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
