The Sundown Roughnecks and the Stratford Elks squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Sundown Roughnecks had to settle for second. Sundown was beaten by Stratford 61-6. Sundown just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julio Valdez, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Bryce Braden was another key contributor, rushing for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Sundown's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Stratford, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Sundown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stratford will take on Stamford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stamford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
