The Clearfield Falcons will head out to take on the Bonneville Lakers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clearfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Clearfield easily dispatched Roy on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Falcons fell just short of West Field by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 29 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Clearfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexandra Bingham, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bonneville made easy work of Roy on Friday and carried off a 17-1 win. The matchup marked the Lakers' most dominant victory of the season.
Kaylee McAfee was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Ellee Summers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Bonneville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Bonneville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Clearfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bonneville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Clearfield continue to outrun the ball?
Clearfield took their victory against Bonneville in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
