The American Heritage Patriots will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. American Heritage will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Somerset Academy is ranked 81st).
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for American Heritage, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-47 loss to NSU University.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 win over Chaminade-Madonna.
Somerset Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnathan Point du jour, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Anthony Henderson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
American Heritage has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Somerset Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
American Heritage came up short against Somerset Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 53-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Henderson, who scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals. Now that American Heritage knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
