The Lanesville Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Orleans, falling 60-23. Lanesville has not had much luck with Orleans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Lanesville got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Eli Guernsey and
Brady Elias, who each put up five points.
Gene Klusmeier held things down on the boards with five rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.
Orleans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Alston led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five steals. Alston has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Crocker, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Lanesville's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Orleans, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanesville and Clarksville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Orleans, they will head out on the road to take on Perry Central on Saturday. Perry Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Orleans is ranked 80th).
