After flying high against the Sacred Heart Crusaders on Tuesday, the Purvis Tornadoes came back down to earth. Purvis fell just short of Lamar Christian by a score of 50-47. Purvis lost against Lamar Christian in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-27 score last time.
Despite the loss, Purvis still got an impressive performance from Systren Eliza Elenus, who scored 18 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Eliza Elenus is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tiyah Evans, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Purvis' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lamar Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purvis will challenge West Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Laurel HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Laurel HomeSchool has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 307 points over their last five matchups.
