Softball Recap: Miyamura Wins Going Away Against Shiprock

Miyamura won the last time they faced Shiprock and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Chieftains. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

ANDREA VINSON made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Phillicity Nez was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kiree Willie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Miyamura hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Miyamura's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9. As for Shiprock, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Miyamura will challenge rival Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Shiprock is set to take on their familiar foe Gallup at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
