The Lakeland Chiefs will venture away from home to face off against the Tunkhannock Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Lakeland came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Old Forge by a score of 7-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chiefs have suffered against the Blue Devils since May 15, 2023.
Chase Magnot was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tunkhannock). They blew past Wyalusing Valley 13-3 on Monday.
Shea Harvey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Tunkhannock got a massive performance out of Paul Poepperling, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those six stolen bases gave Poepperling a new career-high. Gunner Faux was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tunkhannock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Tunkhannock's record now sits at 2-15. As for Lakeland, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lakeland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tunkhannock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Lakeland's way against Tunkhannock in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Lakeland made off with a 14-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
