Taylor County is 2-8 against Gadsden County since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Taylor County took care of business in their home opener (and then some). They claimed a resounding 58-20 victory over Riverside Christian at home. With Taylor County ahead 44-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Taylor County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Louis Gaddy Jr. out in front who scored 13 points. Jakari Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 steals.
Meanwhile, Gadsden County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 57-52 to Suwannee.
Gadsden County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nasir Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds, and Zion Peterson who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Williams scored a full 26.9% of Gadsden County's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Taylor County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Gadsden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Taylor County was taken down by Gadsden County 74-47 in their previous meeting back in January of 2019. Can Taylor County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
