Moody was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 5A Region 6. The Blue Devils vanquished Ashville 24-18 earlier in the week.
Jordan and Carroll Catholic played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Jordan eventually emerging with a 28-25 victory.
Walker's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bryant Atkins threw for 18 yards and Jayson Gunn had 18 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Bridges chipped in 26 yards. SaDarius Key helped Walker's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
The Blue Devils' Devlin Hodges and Logan Motte have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hodges has thrown for 644 yards this season, while Motte, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 319 yards. The Vikings' Tyler Phillips leads the league in rushing yards with 312.
A big matchup in 5A Region 6 this week will be when Moody takes on Jordan. Jay Brown's team is in second place, while Lynn Elkins's team is in third place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Pinson Valley takes on Center Point. The Indians have allowed 99 points this season, while the Eagles have given up 63. Pinson Valley allowed 31 points last week as it lost to Clay-Chalkville.
