After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Torrington, Derby was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over the Wilby Wildcats. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Kaelyn DiMartino made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. DiMartino was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kailyn Kross was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Ari McNeill was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
The win got Derby back to even at 1-1.
