Preston fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Malad on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by just one run.
Aidyn Thomson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 7.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Thomson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Conner Thomson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pocatello entered their tilt with Century on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunder have posted against the Diamondbacks since May 8, 2024.
Carson Allen tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Mason Andersen was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Pocatello was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Century only posted a batting average of .111.
Pocatello's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Preston, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
