Basketball Recap: Fort Frye Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Fort Frye ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the St. Marys Blue Devils 51-49. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

When it comes to explaining why St. Marys lost, don't look at Addie Davis. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-15 to rack up 22 points along with five boards and three steals. Davis has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynnley Bulluck, who posted 15 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Fort Frye pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for St. Marys, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 15-4.

Fort Frye does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Marys, they will face off against Gilmer County at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gilmer County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully St. Marys likes a good challenge.
