Basketball Recap: Rolesville Takes a Loss

Rolesville lost against Millbrook back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rolesville Rams fell just short of the Millbrook Wildcats by a score of 63-61. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Wildcats are ranked 102nd).

Despite the loss, Rolesville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caiden Jenkins went 9 for 15 on his way to 28 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jenkins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Clemons, who posted 12 points and four steals.

It was another big night for Ashton King, who went 10 of 16 en route to 36 points and eight boards for Millbrook. The match was King's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Bowen, who put up seven points.

Rolesville has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Millbrook, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-9.

Rolesville will square off against Grace Christian at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Rolesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season. As for Millbrook, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wakefield at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Millbrook also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 64.8 points per game.
