Softball Recap: Lawson Gets the Win

Lawson's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The Lightning have beaten the Blue Knights the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Knights has come to flipping the script.

Isabella Clem was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clem was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Makenzie Cotton and Joi Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Cotton scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3, while Stewart went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Stewart has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Batts, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Lawson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hume-Fogg, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawson will take on Pope John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pope John Paul II is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season. As for Hume-Fogg, they will square off against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
