Covenant Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Marion County Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Covenant Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Meek with a sharp 72-51 victory on Saturday. Given Covenant Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Meek is ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Marion County waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Hackleburg at home to the tune of 73-35. Marion County pushed the score to 64-25 by the end of the third, a deficit Hackleburg cut but never quite recovered from.
Tye Madison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 1 assist. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Vondrell Swanigan was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Covenant Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. As for Marion County, they pushed their record up to 24-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
