BRIDGETON, N.J. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Bridgeton (N.J.) on Saturday, totaling 19 points as the Bulldogs beat Lower Cape May (Cape May, N.J.) 68-8.
After taking the lead on a
Stefon Bowman touchdown run in the first quarter, the Bulldogs led 62-0 at the half.
Bridgeton expanded its lead to 68 points entering the fourth quarter. BHS scored once in the quarter on a kick return.
The Bulldogs raced to 34 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.
Lower Cape May's only touchdown came on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter.
When the two teams played each other last season, Bridgeton came away with a 13-6 victory.
Bridgeton (1-0) will play a Cape-Atlantic - National game against Cedar Creek next week, while Lower Cape May (0-1) will take on St. Augustine Prep also in a Cape-Atlantic - National game.
