Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Mitchell got a 55 - 20 win over Douglas last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Kiel Nelson. Nelson ran for 76 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Nelson among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another victory last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (six consecutive games). Mt. Vernon/Plankinton had just enough, edging out Winner 30 - 28. The win boosted Mt. Vernon/Plankinton a satisfying five spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between O'Gorman (2nd in the power rankings) and Roosevelt (1st). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Of course, Roosevelt and O'Gorman can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
