The Beaver Local Beavers will challenge the Harrison Central Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Harrison Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Beaver Local extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Beavers' pitchers stepped up to hand East Liverpool a 19-0 shutout. That looming 19-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Beavers yet this season.
Addie Thurik and Addie Hoppel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Thurik struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hoppel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Thurik scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hoppel scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Ciara Call and Tatum Duncan did most of the damage at the plate: Call fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3, while Duncan went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and one double. Those seven RBI gave Duncan a new career-high. Tori Druschel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Beaver Local hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Liverpool struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Harrison Central got the win against Brooke on Wednesday by a conclusive 8-2. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly six runs.
Emma Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Kelsey Powers was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Tonkovich, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Harrison Central and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Beaver Local, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Harrison Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Beaver Local has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Harrison Central, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Beaver Local keep running through batters, or will the Huskies buck the trend?
