Summit has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Buena Vista Demons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Summit posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They put the hurt on Coal Ridge with a sharp 61-41 victory. Summit has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.
Summit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Doussouba Sylla led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sylla has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenya Rodriguez, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Even though Buena Vista has not done well against Ellicott recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Everything went Buena Vista's way against Ellicott as Buena Vista made off with a 50-25 win. Buena Vista has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Summit pushed their record up to 3-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Buena Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Summit came out on top in a nail-biter against Buena Vista in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 39-36. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Buena Vista's Autumn Wingo, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
