The New Kent Trojans stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Tabb with a sharp 72-46 victory. The win was nothing new for New Kent as they're now sitting on six straight.
New Kent found their leader in underclassman Marty Wray, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wray has scored all season. Kyle Diggs was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Torrion Haywood, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Micah Marbra, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
New Kent is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Tabb, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Kent won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Charlottesville at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Charlottesville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Kent in Virginia (Charlottesville is ranked 18th, while New Kent is ranked 72nd). As for Tabb, they will head out on the road to challenge Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Grafton's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Tabb has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
