Shallowater has won 14 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Muleshoe has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Mules at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Shallowater beats Muleshoe with 16 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Idalou on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Gracie Banks made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Shallowater let Kassidy Dutra and Phoenix Navejar run wild. Dutra went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Navejar went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was Navejar's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Olivo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Shallowater hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Muleshoe got the win against Dimmitt on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-2.
Adalie Agundis was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Melanie Martens was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Muleshoe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Shallowater, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Shallowater hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Muleshoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
