Carroll extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-11. They lost 10-4 to the Eufaula Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.
MaKynzye Bonner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Cece Snell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Eufaula, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-18. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Eufaula's side, Jade Barnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 14 hits and racked up six Ks. Barnett has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eufaula let Zy'Kayla Robinson and Yamyah Fryer run wild. Robinson went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Fryer went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Robinson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Edie Trammell, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI.
Coming up, Carroll will face off against Geneva County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eufaula, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Russell County at 4:30 p.m.
