Baseball Recap: Jay Comes Up Short

Jay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Harlandale Indians. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Anthony Gonzalez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Jay's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Harlandale, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.

Coming up, Jay will challenge Winn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winn's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Jay's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harlandale, they will take on Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
